User Guide
This guide is for the people who work in the Medipal web app every day: clinicians who design questionnaires and follow their patients, coordinators who plan schedules and enrollments, and administrators who manage users, access, integrations and automation.
If you are integrating with Medipal from another system, start with Integrations. If you are building a custom questionnaire experience, see Questionnaire Engine.
How the web app is organised
| Area | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Home | Your folder browser and dashboards. Clinicians see an overview with overdue questionnaires, today's agenda and recent results. Administrators can attach a custom dashboard. |
| Folders | The hierarchy that holds questionnaires. Folders carry permissions and configuration that flow down to everything inside them. |
| Questionnaire | The workspace for one questionnaire: designer, logic, scheduling, publishing and enrollments, results, versions, simulation and configuration. |
| Patients | Patient records, devices, enrollments, submissions, results and (when connected) clinical data from your EHR. |
| Analytics | Charts, dashboards and datasets built on questionnaire results. |
| Admin Panel | Users, roles, sessions, API keys, vault, plugins, webhooks, workflows, consent documents and event delivery. |
| User Profile | Your own details, language and theme, security (password, multi-factor authentication), registered devices and your own questionnaire enrollments. |
The left side panel groups these areas as Care (Home, Patients, Analytics), Folders (your favourite and recent folders) and Administration (Admin Panel). The panel can be collapsed to icons.

Roles at a glance
What you can see and do depends on the role assigned to your account and on the folder permissions granted to you. Three built-in roles cover most organisations:
| Role | Typical user | Summary |
|---|---|---|
| Administrator | IT or platform owner | Everything, including users, roles, integrations and instance configuration. |
| Provider | Clinician, researcher, coordinator | Design and run questionnaires, manage patients and enrollments, view results. |
| Integration | A connected system using an API key | Programmatic access only; no interactive sign-in. |
Folder permissions (owner, editor, viewer) further narrow what a provider can do inside each part of the folder tree. See Users, Roles & Scopes.
Getting help
Each page in this guide ends with a Troubleshooting section that lists common symptoms, their likely cause and what to do. If a problem persists, contact the administrator of your Medipal instance; they can check sessions, permissions and integration health from the Admin Panel.
